I cannot believe it has been over 2 whole months since I have blogged!! It has been so busy and there is so much to post! I might be doing multiple postings over the next couple days to get all caught up! Can't post much more right now because I am actually still sitting at work for about 9 more minutes! I have so many pictures to share of my bachelorette party, our wedding and our honeymoons! Yes we took two. . .granted the first one was only 1 night but still. Our 2nd honeymoon was 2 weeks in Orange County, CA and it was WONDERFUL!! So wonderful in fact that we took almost 1200 pictures. . . it will be so hard to decide which ones to share with you all! Gotta go for now. I am off work in 5 minutes and then Michael and I are heading out to the parents house in Fordland for the evening to have some fun times with the fam!

So busy. . . lots of pics. . . long post
We are getting married one week from today!! Time has just flown by and there has been so much going on. I am trying to keep myself organized and get everything done so the last couple days before the wedding are a little less stressful.
Last Thursday my wonderful boss let me take the morning off and Michael and I went and got our marriage license! That was a new experience for both of us and one that neither of us will ever repeat! After we got it I was giddy and all smiles so I told Michael I wanted to take a picture. I told him he had to smile but I didn't think he was going to so neither did I. . .the following is our pretend "my life is over" picture. I couldn't keep the smile out of my eyes though.
This is how we really feel though. . .yay!!!! We even paid a little more and got a decorative marriage license for us to keep. I just need to remember to have our officiant fill out both of them...and Waylon and Beth to sign both of them. The pretty one won't work for anything official, but its the pretty one so who cares! Now I absolutely must not forget to bring it with us to the ceremony!
We spent last weekend in West Plains for Shawn and Karlee's wedding. Friday night was the rehearsal dinner and then Saturday was the wedding. Aren't they so cute. . .and so happy!
Michael and Shawn wanted to do a funny picture so of course I complied, but I am not really sure where these faces came from...it looks like Shawn is plastered.
Karlee's sister made all of these "Priceless" shirts for her and the attendants. . .ya know. . .gown $150; hair $50; nails $30. . . . . .
. . . Becoming Mrs. Marvin. . . Priceless! Karlees was the only one that said that on the last line. I think everyone else's said being a bridesmaid was Priceless.
Michael and I posing at their rehearsal dinner. I almost forgot to have someone take a picture of us together. .. which is not uncommon. Even if I am taking tons of pictures of an event I sometimes forget to get some of us two together. .. which is what happened the next day at the wedding.
West Plains Opera House where they had their ceremony and reception. It was already pretty inside and then made even prettier with the tulle/lights/decorations they had everywhere.
Michael in his tux. I snapped this as he was walking by me and I don't think he was too happy that I was taking a picture of him. . .he better get used to it though! :)
I took a lot of pictures while the photographer was doing her stuff of all the different groupings. I do not have most of them though because I took them for Karlee's sister, Kelsie, so they are all on her camera. I will have to try to get some of them from her because I think there were some cute ones there. This is just one shot I snapped on my camera of Karlee and her attendants while the photographer was working.

This is a shot of the tile floor just inside the doors of the opera house. I wanted to grab a picture just because I thought it looked really cool.

As I said earlier. . .I didn't get a shot of Michael and I together, but I did take the one of him above and then right before we went back inside for the ceremony I realized I hadn't taken any pictures of me...so I snapped one real quick. Karlee had disposable cameras on the table and someone did take a shot of Michael and I. ..so I will have to check with her later after she gets them developed to see if it came out and get a copy.

This is the only shot I have of the ceremony itself. . .which is of them saying their vows. Everything was so pretty and so sweet and I started tearing up when she walked up the aisle to him. I am going to have to try hard not to cry and ruin my makeup at mine! Shawn sang the song "Then" by Brad Paisley and played it for her on the piano. He did a phenomenal job!
After their getaway, Michael and I stayed in West Plains for one more night and then got up Sunday morning and drove to church, where they threw a weddding shower for us. I unfortunately did not get a single picture of that.

I unfortunately did not get a single picture of that. This week has been composed of work, wedding planning, and trying to keep the house clean (which I finally got done yesterday). Last night after Michael got home from work we went to Shang-hai to grab chinese for dinner and ended up taking it to the park and sitting there eating and talking. It was fun and very relaxing. This is just a shot I took of us before we left the house.
Michael took a picture of me eating my yummy chinese. Mmmmm. . . .I just remembered I have leftovers in the fridge I get to eat for lunch today...yumyum!
Michael giving me the eye. I wish I could do this, but I cannot raise one eyebrow up like he is in the picture.
After we were done eating we had the camera so why not take some silly pictures. We did a couple different silly ones, but this one was my favorite. It makes me smile when I see it!
And then just a nice one of us. Awwwww. This was the last picture we took because Michael started complaining about the bright light. Not that I blame him. . .it was dark outside and the flash really lit everything up, but man was I seeing spots!
After we left the park we went to Andy's which had been invaded by Jeeps. Don't know what was going on but there were tons of them and one had even parked crooked with its front tire up on the tire of the Jeep next to it. I thought it was kind of funny. . . assuming they know each other.

I am ready to have those playlists all ready to go. I got up way too early this morning considering I will probably be up late tonight for my Bachelorette Party!! Michael got up to go to drill this morning and turned the light on, and the radio on and I started talking to him so then I was just awake. Maybe I should take a nap later. I am so excited for tonight though. . .and curious as to what crazy gifts I might receive! We are going to Springfield Brewing Company for dinner and then to Ernie Biggs Piano Bar to listen to some music. I haven't been to either place in quite a while so I am really looking forward to it. Then we are heading back to Beth's house to dance, have some drinks, and play some games. I told Beth to help me make sure pictures get taken so I will post some later.
I'm staying the night at Beth's tonight and then tomorrow we are getting up and going shopping. I need to get a dress for our rehearsal dinner and a swimsuit for the honeymoon, and just other clothes that I need.
Well, I guess that's all for now. . .as I said first thing. . .long post!
Soon to be Mrs. Hillenburg,

Shop til ya drop. . .
Today after work I met up with my mom and sister, Becky, to go shopping. We were looking for dresses for the two of them to wear to my wedding and a dress for me to wear to Shawn and Karlee's wedding next Saturday. It was an exhausting trip! We also had Trey and Taylor with us so by the end of the night they were ready to hit the hay!
We went to Kohls first because I wanted to buy luggage. Michael and I did not have any so with some money that we received at the bridal shower I went and bought luggage for us. Isn't it pretty! The set was normally $229 but I got it on sale for $89!
Some of you are probably thinking Michael is not going to be too happy with me when he sees that purple luggage. . .but don't worry because I am not that crazy. I got a set for each of us and I think Michael will be perfectly content with the nice gray color I bought for him.
Everyone bought something at Kohls, but no one got a dress there. We grabbed some dinner real quick and then headed to the mall. Becky found a pretty dress at JCPenney's, and us other two found dresses at Dillards. Mine is brown with blue swirls all over it. . .it is really pretty and actually fairly comfortable, which I was not expecting. Bonus! Now I just need to get shoes and any accessories I might want. *smile* We did go into RackRoom shoes, where I did not purchase any shoes. . . but bought this cute purse instead. I absolutely love, love, love it. I have been thinking that I wanted to get a white purse and this was the first place I looked all day with one I liked!
After the mall we ran to Marshalls and TJMaxx where my mom found a different dress that I think she likes more, so she might be returning the one to Dillards. We were all ready to call it a night by then and Trey said he wanted to go home so we called it quits.

I think its just about time for me to though. I am so happy it is Memorial Day weekend and I don't have to work on Monday. Today was already a good, productive day and there are still 3 more full days left. That makes me HAPPY!!
Well, lots of little wedding details to work on tomorrow and my house is in desperate need of a good cleaning!!! We are heading to a cookout at Josh and Heather's tomorrow afternoon so I need to get my butt out of bed in the morning and get some stuff done!!
That's all for now. . toodles!

Makeup and Lighting
Title sounds like it should be about some big theatre production. . . but no. . .just the big production called our wedding. I went and had my makeup runthrough today so of course I had to snap some pics of the finished product. . .a prettier me! I just need to learn how to do my makeup better so it looks like this everyday!
I absolutely cannot believe that there is only 22 days left until the wedding!! The last couple months have just flown by. There are lots of little things that still need to be done and a couple larger items, but for the most part we are all ready. Also working on getting ready for the honeymoon. . . be booked the rental car and a couple hotel nights the other day. I am so ready to escape to CA for a couple weeks. We do still have lots to do before that though also. . . order some tix for a few specific things we want to do while there, buy luggage, and I need to buy some more summer clothes.
This is the sample of our lighting that I rigged up in the basement just to see what it was going to look like. I really like the way it looks and I cannot wait to see the Firehouse all decorated. . .of course doing the decorating might not be so fun. I need to run over there sometime soon and get a better visual idea of how we are stringing the lights up.
We found out the other day that our church is doing a wedding shower for us. . .so that was unexpected but will be really nice. We are going to West Plains next weekend for Shawn and Karlee's wedding but have to come back on Sunday because that is when they are throwing the shower at church.

Beth and Lauren are getting the plans all underway for my bachelorette party and I am excited for that! I am sure I will get embarrassed some, but what other time in my life will I be able to wear a veil or tiara with inappropriate stuff on it. I can't wait. . .it will be so funny! Michael did not want any pictures taken at his bachelor party, but I kind of want some pictures of my bachelorette party.
Well. . . I guess that's all for now. I need to go think about some more wedding stuff. More specifically, try to figure out when I am going to fit in everything that still needs done. Hmmmm...
tomorrow is my last friday for 2 months. . . yeah! I am so happy to have Fridays off again, but that means back to 10 hour days which is not so wonderful.

I know. . .finally
So obviously I am super behind on blogging about my bridal shower. Shame on me right. Well...the shower was wonderful and I just finally got my Thank you cards handed out or mailed today. There was a really good turnout so that made me happy and everything looked nice. Beth did a really nice job with everything. One of the best moments was when Michael's sister, Laura, walked in. She lives up near Chicago and said she wasn't going to be able to make it down. . but she did, and brought Amelia with her. Michael's mom, my mom, and Beth all knew that she was actually coming and the secret was actually kept. I was really surprised and happy to see them! The following are pictures of me with people from Michael's side of the family. Becky has some pictures of our side of the family and I tried to get them from her, but the cd she gave me didn't work...so I will have to get those and post some of them later.
Amelia sitting on Micki's lap. She is getting so big so fast. She was excited to be there on a trip with just her and her mom.
Lets see, this next pic is Michael's mom, Theresa, Laura, Amelia and I.
These are the flowers that Beth made for all of the tables. They are pom-pom flowers. I think some of these are what I am going to use as my bouquet for the rehearsal and the ones that are just red/black/white I am actually going to use as centerpieces at the wedding reception.
And then this is the massive piles of gifts I got to open. I honestly felt kind of awkward sitting in front of everyone opening up presents. Michael and I were very lucky though and received a lot of wonderful gifts.
It's kind of funny because the one thing that people are still talking about from the shower is the food. Beth had lots of delicious desserts. The following is a list of what she made.

Brownie Candy Cups
Poppy Seed Cake
Blueberry Crumb Bars
Red Velvet Oreos
Cherry Cream Cheese Turnovers
Golden Oreo Truffles
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies
White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake Bars
White Chocolate Macademia Nut Cookies
It was all yum and there were lots left over too. I think my favorite things were all of the things that had fruit. . .the cherry turnovers, the blueberry crumb bars (absolutely loved these!!), and the raspberry cheesecake bars.
She had a lot of recipe requests for the delicious food!
Lets see. . . .what else has been going on since the shower. . . not much really, just wedding planning and trying to keep my house clean. We went and hung out around the bonfire at Waylon and Jessica's last weekend, so that was nice and relaxing. It was colder though that day and silly me had capris on so I was absolutely freezing!!
We went out with a group of friends for Cinco de Mayo. We just went to Cielito Lindo's, but it was a lot of fun. I had two Bahama Mama's and finished a small pitcher of margarita's for someone. It was fun.
Nothing much else, except that I am exhausted and want to go to bed. Michael and I got up early this morning and walked and then this evening we met up with some friends and we walked the track at MSU. Then ran quite a bit also, but I only ran a little.
Beth and I are going out to eat and to see a movie this Saturday, so I am looking forward too that. I am pretty sure we are going to go see 'Angels and Demons' because we have both read and really liked the book. I don't know where we are going to eat yet, but I think we are going to do a bit of work on some wedding stuff also.
Well. . .I think that's all for now. Michael and I need to get up and go to the gym in the morning, so I think I am going to call it a day!
I will try to not let such a lapse occur before I am back again!

excited for tomorrow!
Tomorrow is my bridal shower and I am very excited! It has always kind of seemed like this day would never come. As of today I have only 50 days left until the wedding! That seems so crazy. . . this last year or so has just flown by. I really cannot believe that Michael has been back home from Iraq for almost a year already!
Anyway. . .pertaining to the wedding. . . all of my invites are out except about 11 which I was waiting on addresses for, but those should be going out by Monday or Tuesday, my trial run for my hair is tomorrow morning before the shower which makes me excited because I love having my hair done up all pretty!
Following are some pictures from my niece's birthday party last weekend. This is Sasha and she just turned one. She was all about the presents to start with, especially this round one. . .betcha can't guess what that one was. :) She did tire of opening the presents fairly quickly so her brothers helped open the rest of her gifts.
This is Taylor being happy that she is holding the new baby doll. Sasha got a little baby doll for her birthday and as soon as she set it down Taylor scooped it up. When she had to give it back to Sasha there was a little fit, so there was a little lesson taught about how it was Sasha's baby doll and it was so nice of Sasha to let Taylor play with it. The next time when Sasha came looking for her baby doll, Taylor handed it right over.
Kids have such great imaginations. I think this toy is actually a fire truck with a yellow ladder on top (not really sure what the blue thing is) but all Trey saw was that it looked like binoculars and he kept pretending to look through them. I wish our imaginations as adults were as active as they were when we were kids.
And what is a first birthday party without an individual cupcake/cake for the child to devour. Sasha fulfilled every expecation. She had that cupcake everywhere and she was just raking in the attention, which was very unlike prior birthdays with the boys when they were almost too shy to sit there and even open presents in front of everyone. Laura says she is all girl. . .she loves pretty clothes, she loves chocolate, and she loves being the center of attention!
Eating this cupcake was very serious business and what better way to eat it than to take all the good stuff off the top first!
Won't she love these pictures when she is older. Hee hee hee. She was covered in chocolate and perfectly content until her cupcake was gone.
Well that's all for now. I am currently in the process of cleaning my house. I am in the middle of washing the dishes and doing laundry. I still need to vacuum my floors but that sounds very unappealing. . .Beth just called and I think I am going to take a short lunch break and go to Arby's with her and Mama.

a late Easter post
These are some pictures from last weekend that I am finally getting around to posting. On Friday I went out to Laura and Shawn's and helped Shane and Cole dye Easter eggs. When I got out there they were actually sleeping so Laura and I worked on addressing wedding invites a little. But after the boys woke up from their nap they were ready to go! Laura and I ran the show and actually limited the boys action to putting the eggs in the color and pulling the eggs back out. They loved all the different colors (some of which didn't dye very well but thats ok). This is a pic of all the different colors with an egg going in each one.
and then the end result. Aren't they pretty?!
And of course I had to take some pics of Shane and Cole with their first egg dyeing experience . . . so this is Shane and one bright yellow egg! I think Shane liked seeing all of the different colors when they were done.
And then Cole with his blue egg. His favorite part was putting the eggs into the color. We had a minor issue when there were no more eggs to put in, but he moved past it fairly quickly!
And then Sasha with her 'buggy' as Laura calls it. This stuffed ladybug was Beth and I's inspiration when we planned Laura's baby shower for the coming Sasha. We did everything in black and red and had this cute ladybug there. Laura gave it to Sasha just recently and she loves it! She flops it on the floor and rolls all over it which is very cute! I was glad to see if was actually being used past the shower because I thought it was just adorable when we bought it.

Michael and I went to church that morning where he sang the solo part of one of the songs we (the choir) sang for the service. He did very well despite his allergies acting up. After church we headed out to Fordland for an Easter dinner with my family. Michael and I were the first ones there so we had my mom snap a few pictures real quick. I swear. . .I hope our wedding pictures are good because it doesn't seem like we can hardly get a picture of the two of us where we both look good. The two following pictures are both ok, but in one I am making a face like 'take the picture already' and the other one was after a few shots and Michael was tired of trying to get a good picture.
Becky and Hugh were not there with their rugrats, so I just took some more pics of Laura's kids. Obviously they are not looking at me in the following picture because Mama/Grandma was standing off to the side trying to make them smile, which they did, just at her. I love Sasha's open mouth in this picture because it just reminds me that she was squealing and giggling! They are all wearing their Easter color tops that their grandma made for them.
Michael likes to make funny faces in pictures and he likes to encourage kids to do so too. As you can see, Shane was happy to oblige. All the little nephews love their soon to be 'uncle' Michael.
Well. . . that is really all for now. I am exhausted and I need to go to bed. Michael is out of town tonight for a 5K that he is doing tomorrow morning with a friend. Which means I have the bed all to myself, yeah! I spent all of today with Laura and her kids again, first shopping and then helping her get food ready for Sasha's birthday party tomorrow because she just turned one! So that is where I will be tomorrow afternoon evening, and while there hopefully I can con some people into helping me stuff enclosures into wedding invites and sealing them, or helping me make up favor bags. Hopefully I won't have to con anyone and they will help willingly.
Becky and Hugh were not there with their rugrats, so I just took some more pics of Laura's kids. We put an offer on one the other day and are just waiting to hear a response. The waiting is torture! I am trying not to think about it. . . Michael kind of made me put the brakes on when I started asking about paint colors!
Ok so that really is all for now. We'll see if I can get any good pics tomorrow at the birthday party. I need to get up in the morning and clean my house. Yuck.
Be back soon,
Lisa
