changed it after all...

Ok so I mentioned yesterday that I did a scrapbook page Friday night but wasn't too happy with it because it was too busy.  I said I wasn't going to change it...but I changed my mind.  I didn't like it and it was ruining my attitude about scrapbooking for the weekend.  This is what it looks like now....
instead of this...Isn't it soo much better and not crazy busy!
Along with redoing that first page, this is another page that I got done today.  It is from when we went to the Circus over a year ago...I really need to catch up!

This page I actually finished up a couple weekends ago when Beth was here over Memorial Day weekend but i never posted it so I am now.  This was the first page i used my Cricut on...and I've used it on both other pages I have done since then!  Only for a star on the circus page...but it still counts!
That's it.  I just wanted to jump on real quick and share these scrapbook pages with you.  Pretty such I'm not going to get anymore done tonight...but I had to go take care of other stuff you know...like dishes and laundry.  woo hoo....not really but I think it is the first time I have washed all of my dishes in about 2 weeks!

Bowling and the Bee...

Last night turned into a really late night!  But it did get a late start since our Tent Theatre play was at midnight.  I left my house and met Beth, Matt, Josh, and Karen at the bowling alley.  I intended to just pick Beth up, but after getting there ended up staying a bowling one game (after Beth and I ran to her apt to get me some socks!)  I bowled a 103, which sucks for a lot of people, but that is a really good score for me...I am a TERRIBLE bowler!  This is just a couple shots from the bowling alley...
By the time we finished our game it was about 11:40 pm and Beth and I had to get over to our play.
The play was really, really funny and I am so glad we went for the midnight showing which is the one performance with original lyrics...meaning mature language.  It was absolutely HILARIOUS...I laughed so much!
One of my favorite lines was actually something that most people might not think was funny...but I guess I'm not most people :)  At one point in the production Olive Ostrovsky says, "...if you took the W in answer, the H in ghost, the extra A in aardvark, and the T in listen you could keep saying "WHAT?" but no one would hear you because the whole word would be silent!"   Her delivery on this line was great!  Also, the comments introducing the participating audience members had the whole crowd laughing.  I don't think I could have stood there with a straight face.  I would have blushed at what they said (seeing as how it was the mature language show) or else been unable to control my laughter.  Oh, also, one of the audience participants had the word astronomer and when he asked VP Panch to use it in a sentence this is what he said..."after it was determined that Pluto is not a planet, astronomers are taking a closer look at Uranus".  It made me laugh...along with most of the crowd!
Beth, what other funny lines do you remember?  Overall very good first Tent Theatre experience and glad that I bought season passes for the season.  Also happy to have accomplished another thing off of my list!

Well, after leaving the play we drove to Steak and Shake for some food.  We both had a frisco melt...me chicken and Beth beef.  It was yummy and the fries really hit the spot...as did the strawberry shake I had with it!
After we got back to her apt, we took an 'end of the night' shot and I must say we do not look too bad considering that it was about 3:30am!
That's all for now!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday!

so far today...

Hello all!  Hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday so far.  I have been fairly productive but cannot believe that it is already 2:30pm!  I still have lots more I wanted to get done today but I wanted to jump on here real quick and share a few pics of my day so far...

First up I wanted to share pics of a couple things I mentioned in my last post.  This is a picture of the birthstone ring that Michael bought for me for our anniversary (which is tomorrow...one year down!)

and the mirror I picked up last weekend while thrift shopping. I know it needs cleaned up and I am not sure yet if I want to leave it wood or paint it...what do you think? I am actually thinking that I want to paint it a blue or green to match my living room rugs.

Right now I am in love with this open lot next to my house.  Everytime this week that I have passed it while leaving for work in the morning I think...that field is so pretty!  Well, this morning I passed it a couple times while out walking and after I was done I ran in and grabbed my camera...now I have pretty pics :)

Ready for my love to walk across this mat.  Only 10 days left...yay!  I am so excited to see him!
Finished this scrapbook page last night.  Now that its done I am thinking it may be waayy to busy...but too late now.  Overall I like it and I got to use my Cricut again for the title JOY and for the Christmas tree reliefs.  I have stuff to get five more pages done so I need to get cracking on that!
(BTW, this is a layout from Christmas 08...yeah...I'm that behind)
I was hoping to have all of those pages done by the end of the weekend, but I'm not sure that is going to happen seeing as I have other stuff I still need to get done also, like cleaning and planning for our upcoming trip to Philadelphia some more.

Also, tonight Beth and I are going to see a Tent Theatre play at midnight...The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.  I am really excited because I have never been to Tent Theatre and I love seeing plays and musicals!  That also means after tonight I will have accomplished another thing on my list...#48 Go see a play or musical.  I actually ended up buying 2 season passes to Tent Theatre for 2010...which means by the end of summer I will have seen three!  I am taking one sister to each play with me and maybe next year (depending upon what plays they are doing) maybe Michael and I will buy season passes for 2011!
I intend to gets some pics of Beth and I tonight when we go to Tent Theatre so I will share those tomorrow.  For now I am going to get off of here and get back to scrapping!
Come what may <3

Coldstone and camera fun...

I ended up spending most of this last weekend in Springfield with Beth.  Saturday I met her and Jade and we went thrift shopping ( I bought a mirror for the entry) and then Beth and I did some fun shopping after Jade had to leave.  We went to Scrapbook Generation, Jewelry Galore, Hobby Lobby, Barnes and Noble, and we had a late lunch/early dinner at Cheddars.  It had been forever since I had been in Scrapbook Generation and I walked in there telling myself there was probably nothing I needed to buy and walked out with almost $20 of paper and a few other goodies.  The next place, Jewelry Galore, well let's just say I am in loovvee!  My wallet would probably be better off if Beth hadn't introduced me to this store, but when a necklace is only $1 its really hard to resist. :)  In Barnes and Noble we actually split up immediately and then when we found each other we were carrying around the same little pink notebook.  Not only do we both go for the notebook that we probably don't need because we already have a ton at home, but we both pick the same one out of multiple choices.  You know what they say about great minds :)

I really wasn't as happy with Chili's as I usually am...it seems they kind of modified what I normally get and I didn't think it was anywhere near as good and kindof hard to eat.  Anyway, the rest of Saturday we mainly just relaxed around her place.  Sunday we got up and she was supposed to go to work and me to church, but that didn't happen.  Instead we went and walked 3.25 miles, came home and showered, worked on some scrapbook planning, and then walked to Coldstone Creamery to get ice cream.  Which is what all of the following pictures are from :)
She got the Coffee lover's only and I got That's How I Roll and it was delicious!
After we got out ice cream we started walking back to her place and then popped a squat on the edge of a nearby flowerbed.
My ice cream was WONDERFUL!  I love pecans in ice cream!
Apparently Beth loved hers too...seeing as how she is trying to get every last drop out of the cone :)

The rest of these pictures are just fun ones that we started taking on my camera after we finished our ice cream.  I love the FX Camera app on my Droid!  It has all these cool picture features...

Fisheye...
ToyCam...
Polandroid (gotta love how they fit android into that :)...
SymmetriCam...
and AndyWarholizer...
plus it just has a regular camera feature also of course.

After we finally quit playing around with the cameras we headed back to her apartment where we just lazed around for the rest of the day and then I came home way too late considering the next day was Monday!  Although not as late as I am staying up right now...yikes...I just looked at the time!  I gotta hit the hay!

Only other thing I have to say is that Michael and I's first wedding anniversary is in just a few more days and I assumed we would just celebrate when he got home for R&R and who knew if we were going to do any gifts or not.  Well, he called me at work today and told me that afterwork I needed to go by Helzberg and pick up my anniversary gift.  I had a feeling it was the ring I told him before that I wanted...and I was right!  The salespeople at Helzberg said that he was so sweet for calling that in while overseas...I just smiled because I know they are right :)

I'm out...

or not...

yeah, so I didn't end up walking this morning but it's not entirely my fault...it was raining.  Guess I could have walked in the rain, but as soon as I realized it was raining my brain shut off and I went back to snoozing!  That means I will have to go walk tonight...as long as it is not raining anyway :)
For now its back to work....

30/50 Mile June Walk/Run Challenge

Michael found out about this Walk/Run Challenge on Facebook and signed up which brought several more people into signing up.  I debated about whether or not I wanted to do it and ended up deciding why the heck not!  This is the info off of Facebook regarding the June challenge...I wonder if there will be a new challenge in July?

On the heels of Richard Reed's very successful 3000 Push-Up Challenge this month, a group of Beachbody Coaches and friends have teamed up to create this next event.

The plan is to get outdoors, get some fresh air and make some tracks. Nearly everyone can walk and/or run 30 miles in 30 days if the put their mind to it, and maybe you will CHALLENGE YOURSELF and go for the 50 miles. Your choice; 30, 50, or more. Walk or run in the morning with your dog, at lunch at work,on a treadmill, at a park, or after dinner with friends or family.
Bicycle riders, you are welcome, too. But to make it fair, any (responsible) kid or adult on a bike, rollerblades or Razor needs to do double-distance. So it's 60 or 100 miles for you. Get in your car and measure your route using the odometer if need be.
This is an open event: anyone can join in. To re-post on your wall, just click "Share", or invite guests by clicking "Invite people to come".
Team Beachbody coaches, let's make this huge. We are a large group, helping people improve their health and reach their fitness goals. We don't just talk the talk, we walk the walk. Re-post and get ur peeps onboard!
Feel free to post comments below, including your progress over the 30 days. Take a pic of you and friends/family walking or running anywhere and everywhere. Maybe we'll have a contest at the end for silliest or funniest pic, or most unusual place you walk or run. Course, we'll need a prize for that contest....

I am still glad that I decided to go for this challenge even though I haven't been excellent at it so far.  I am just aiming for the 30 mile goal which works out to about a mile a day for the month of June.  Today is day 8 and I am at 7.25 miles, so a little behind.

Tonight after work I went 1.85 miles and it was quite muggy outside.  The whole time I was walking the sky kept being lit up by distant lightning...I say distant because it was too far away to have any thunder associated with it.  Along with watching the lightning illuminate the sky, I also watched lightning bugs...tons and tons of lighning bugs.  It really is incredible how many are out here and it made me so happy to not be walking on my old street in Springfield!

Beth pointed me too this really nice website that helps you figure out the distance you have walked/ran.  Although I can't do the street view because it doesn't show that the streets by my house even exist!  I have to do the satellite view, but I think that actually works better for me.

That's really all I have to share right now.  I wanted to be in bed by 10:30pm and it is already 11:15 pm so I am going to call it a day!  I am hoping to get up in the morning and go walk again...but I have been meaning to do that for a couple days already and it hasn't happened.  I have a horrible time getting out of bed in the morning...the monster in my bed just won't let me ;]

Goodnight!

Random bits...

So a few posts ago I reference how I had bought one other thing that I said would make Memorial Day weekend better.  This is what I bought...a patio set, which means I accomlished #35 on my list.

It was really nice to have the option of sitting out on the deck while everyone was over for Memorial day (although we celebrated on Sunday).  Even though it looked like rain for awhile and we could see lightning and hear thunder, it never rained on us!  Beth stayed the night with me so later that night we sat out on the deck talking and the next morning we had brunch out there.  The first picture is from our Memorial Day party on Sunday when just Laura's family and Beth were there.  The other picture is from our brunch on Monday morning...french toast, leftover deviled eggs, watermelon, and pineapple....yum!  It was extremely nice sitting out there that morning because the sun was hitting the other side of the house and there was a nice breeze blowing across the open fields nearby.

That means that these are the goals that I have accomlished from my list...
1. Goal #3 - buy an SLR camera
2. Goal #25 - hang photos and vinyl cling in bedroom
3. Goal #26 - get wedding rings soldered
4. Goal #29 - have a garage sale
5. Goal #35 - buy patio furniture (see photos above)

Not very many really...5 out of 50...guess I better get my rear in gear :(

These are the other goals I have started though, and there are more of them so that's good :)
1. Goal #1 - attend 2 more Barbershop International conventions.  Plane tickets are purchased and hotel room is booked, so ready to get this one started.  We will be in Philadelphia in less than a month!  This goal won't really be complete though until after the next Convention next summer, which is in KC.
2. Goal #8 - get to a healthy weight.   This goal is in process and I have lost some, but I still have a ways to go.
3. Goal #12 - get professional pictures of Michael and I.  I have booked a photographer to do a little photo shoot with Michael and I while he is on R&R...so coming up soon!  It is a photographer from our church that is just starting out so she gave us a great price.  I am thinking that instead of Christmas pictures every year like a lot of families do, we might do family pictures every June around our anniversary.  I guess we'll see though!
4. Goal #13 - scrapbook up to date, or at least more current.  I actually debated whether or not I should say this goal was in process.  I just started working on my scrapbook again after months of not touching it and I am still so far behind.  But I did finish one page so I guess I am a little closer :)
5. Goal #14 - start taking lots of pictures again...bring camera everywhere.  I have taken a lot more pictures in the last couple months than I did in the several months before that.  I don't want to say I have accomplished this goal yet though just to keep it as a reminder to document my life with film ;]
6. Goal #17 - Take at least one trip to Chicago.  I am saying this goal is in process because Beth and I made some great plans this last weekend and have already made tracks in setting our plans in stone.  Hopefully, by the end of this weekend they will be!
7.  Goal #19 - Window coverings on every window in the house.  This goal is started because I finally got blinds and curtains on my living room windows and OMG does it make a difference in keeping some heat out of the house!

8.  Goal #30 - Organize craft stuff/office stuff upstairs.  A few weeks ago I spent 10 hours one weekend working on the bonus room upstairs that serves as the craft room/office.  I did post the before pics so you can go back and look at those.  The after pics I posted were just after about 5 hours, so there is more accomplished than that, but still not all done.  Can't wait to share the after pics because that means it will be all clean and organized!
9.  Goal # 36 - Read 30 books.  I am about 6 books into this goal that includes some J.K. Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, Bess Streeter Aldrich, and Maeve Binchy.  It has been over a month though since I read the last one so I guess its about time to pick up a new book!
10.  Goal #37 - Blog at least once a week.  This is a goal that runs for the duration of the 500 days so I won't be able to say how close I made it until the end of the time frame.  I am counting a week as Sunday to Saturday and so far I have missed one week that I didn't do a blog post.
11.  Goal #46 - See 10 movies in the theatre.  So far I have only seen one, Iron Man 2, but that's enough for me to say that this goal has been started :)
12. Goal #48 - Go see a play or musical.  I have decided what I want to see but I guess that's really as close as I am right now.  I am going to see if I can go get tickets tomorrow!

So that's what is started.  Still leaves several for me to accomlish...but I do still have a little over a year to get them all done.  :)

I also started another goal that kind of goes along with #6 and #8 on my list.  It is also what I referenced last night saying there was something else I really wanted to get accomplished last night...but I didn't :(  I'll be back to talk more about that later.  For now I am ready to get off of here and the last thing I have to say is that I finally made it to my 100th post!!  Yay...as horns blow and confetti falls...at least in my head anyway!  It has taken me so long to reach the 100th post mark, but I guess that's what happens when you take a 3 month break, and then a 6 month break.  :)

That's all I have for now.  TTYL!

Let's party!

I did make it to town fairly early on Saturday and was extremely happy to have gotten groceries and be leaving town already by 10am.  I spent the rest of Saturday preparing food for Sunday and cleaning around the house.  On Sunday I got up and went to church and then my family descended upon my house later that day...which was a lot of fun.  It's always chaotic when my family is all together, but I don't think I would have it any other way!  I think the kiddos had a lot of fun too with the sprinkler, the pool, the bubbles, and the fudgsicles!  Warning...lots of pics ahead!
y
That's all I have for now.  It's already 9:30 and I have something I really need to get accomplished tonight!
Come what may <3
